Ås Agricultural Society and Vitenparken invites you to "Our Pets" – a free event for the whole family on May 31 and June 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will take place at Vitenparken at Campus Ås, and is particularly suitable for families with children who are curious about how the food we eat is made.

As a science center with a focus on sustainable development and Norwegian food production, we want to give children and young people an opportunity to get to know livestock, farmers and how Norwegian agriculture actually works. Through encounters with the animals and conversations with the farmers, the children learn where their food comes from, how it is produced, and why agriculture and local food are so important for food security in Norway.

During the day, children can meet pigs, goats, sheep and several other farm animals. The animal stations are staffed by farmers from Ås Landbrukslag, who are happy to answer questions and tell about their work. There is also a knowledge trail in the park with various posts, activity stops and short films that show what modern agriculture looks like and what role it plays in society.

There will of course be food and drinks too. As is tradition, we will grill sausages outside during the event, and in Andedammen café and restaurant you can buy freshly baked goods, barista drinks, sandwiches, smoothies and much more. For the children there will be waffles, toast and sausages. On weekends, when we have larger events, the kitchen is open with a limited à la carte menu – please ask the waiter for the day's selection.

The event is free and open to everyone. Welcome to a pleasant and educational day in green surroundings at Campus Ås.
