As is tradition, the UEat conference was held at Vitenparken

UEat is an annual sustainability conference and short film competition organized by Vitenparken in collaboration with Frogn and Ås VGS.
Seven speakers contributed a wealth of facts and a good atmosphere from the stage during this year's kickoff, where the theme was "The ocean as a food resource: Should we use more of the ocean's resources to become more self-sufficient in Norway?".

The students also participated in an activity trail with activities and tasks related to the ocean, resource use and sustainability.

The students take all their learning back to their schools where they use their knowledge to create fantastic short films. The films are included in the schools' own short film festivals, and three winners from each school meet for a duel during the final at Vitenparken .

The finals will take place on March 31st. Then the final films from Frogn and Ås VGS will meet for a short film festival at Vitenparken . Here, a jury will award prizes in two categories. The subject prize where the jury focuses on the academic content. And the creativity prize where creativity and film studies are in focus. In addition, the students' favorite will be awarded the student prize.

And what are the students fighting about?
This year's main prize is honor and glory among fellow students, as well as a stay at the floating saunas in Son. So there's a lot at stake here!

Ueat 2023 final

The winner of the Professional Award went to a group of students from Ås VGS for their film about more use of low-trophic species from the ocean in response to this year's assignment. The group had a good visual presentation of their professional arguments, while also using good creative moves to engage the audience.

The creativity award also went to a group from Ås vgs for their music video about seaweed as a food for the future. Here, a variety of different effects were used to create attention, a good atmosphere and get the message across. The jury appreciated good rhymes and a lot of humor.

The last award, and perhaps the most prestigious, the Student Award went to Frogn vgs and a group that took viewers into a dramatic future where there is war in the country and the ocean's resources must be used more. The group used several dramatic moves, but was also good at presenting their innovative idea of growing seaweed and kelp on floating pier structures in the ocean.
