Week 31 SOLD OUT: The Future
All summer long you can take part in exciting activities with VitenSkolen at Vitenparken . We have created weekly programs covering everything from biotechnology, food, energy and boating. It is possible to sign up for the whole week or individual days. The activities are suitable for children from 7 to 13 years old. All days last from 10:00 to 15:00 (with the exception of the events with overnight stays), and include a simple lunch.
Have you ever built a geothermal power plant before? Or a hyperloop that goes above ground? Which is faster, a plane or a hyperloop? We'll build both and find out in our futures week.
The week ends with an (optional) overnight stay in a lavvo at Årungen. Here we will have a barbecue, a bat and fox safari in the forest when darkness falls, before the next day we will summarize everything we have explored and played with. For lunch there will be a barbecue and ice cream.
Program
Every day we start the future week with a little game and an introduction to what we will do that day.
Monday: Introduction Day
We get to know a little better what the future looks like by building our own power plants using hydrolysis machines to create energy.
Who said you need batteries for electric cars to run? We build solar-powered cars from electric motors and solar panels, 3D pens and Lego.
Tuesday: Energy Day
We get to know Newton better through target shooting, smashing water balloons with catapults, and crazy power plants made of boiling water, volcanoes, and geothermal power plants.
Wednesday: Aircraft and drone day
Today we are going to learn how to fly a drone. On Vitenparken We have a variety of different drones, including two transport drones and remote-controlled propellers that can be attached to your favorite paper airplane! According to Avinor, short-haul air traffic will be renewable by 2040. We are testing our solar-powered plane and everyone can build their own solar-powered plane. Want your plane to fly the farthest? Put on VR glasses and join us on a flight over Campus Ås. Feel the wind in your face, take pictures and film.
Thursday: The big Hyperloop day
According to Elon Musk, hyperloop is the transport solution of the future! We'll take the test and see which is the fastest of our self-built hyperloop, drones and planes. In the evening there is an optional overnight stay with badgers, foxes and bats at the forest in Årungen. Can you find Mikkel the fox? We are equipped with stargazing binoculars, bat detectors and hot cocoa. Maybe Mikkel the fox will peek out of his den and say hello?
Friday: Excursion
We meet at Årungen (we can pick you up at Vitenparken ) and bring us all our creations from earlier this week, and summarize the week. As an added bonus, there will be a barbecue, serving ice cream.
