Summer vacation with childcare
Join the Science Park Summer School! Located on the NMBU campus in Ås municipality, Vitenparken a science center with a focus on sustainability and the environment that offers a unique summer experience for children when parents are at work. Our summer school includes childcare provided by our engaging science hosts, as well as food throughout the day.
Our dedicated educators and facilitators have developed a varied program full of educational and fun activities. From solving mysteries like real detectives and exploring cryptic writings to exploring the science behind electricity and making our own batteries, there are no limits to the fun and learning!
In addition, we will take an exciting journey through VitenEnga, our own kitchen garden, where children will learn about plants and prepare delicious dishes with fresh ingredients straight from the garden. And don't forget our exciting treasure hunt excursion, as well as the opportunity to learn a little about programming!
- Suitable for children between 8 – 13 years old
- Vi gjennomfører sommerskole i følgende uker: 26 (23. – 27. juni), 27 (30. juni – 4. juli), 28 (7. – 11. juli) , 32 (4. august – 8. august) , 33 (11. august – 15. august)
- There will be no summer school in weeks 29, 30 and 31 this year.
- Price: NOK 2,500 per week

Weekly program in weeks 32 and 33 :
Each day has its own theme. There will be three teaching sessions related to each theme per day.
Monday: Garden Day
In Vitenparken's own school garden, VitenEnga, children get their hands on soil and learn how plants grow, how ecosystems are interconnected – and where our food actually comes from.
Subjects: Biology, plant science
Tuesday: Future Day
What will the world look like in 2050? Children explore evolution, biology and social development, and use both imagination and research to imagine the food, environment and solutions of the future.
Subjects: Biology, social studies, geography
Wednesday: Programming Day
With fun equipment and creative exercises, children are introduced to coding and technology. They learn how programming can be used to solve practical challenges in nature and society.
Subjects: Mathematics, technology, coding
Thursday: Day out
A whole day out with a focus on nature and biodiversity! The children go on a discovery tour, learn about birds and insects, and explore the new tree in the Science Park's exhibition.

Friday: Invention Day
On the last day of the week, the children become little engineers! They develop their own inventions and ideas to solve future social and environmental challenges – with creativity and practical construction. Subject areas: Science, mathematics, social studies
Learning through experience:
Summer vacation at Vitenparken bridges the gap between play and learning. Throughout the week, we integrate themes related to science, mathematics and sustainable development – not as an abstract concept, but as a practical, understandable and inspiring part of everyday life. The children learn how they can use knowledge to make a difference for the future.
Practical information:
- Attendance is on Vitenparken between 08:00-09:00
- Closing and pick-up from 3:30 – 4:00 PM.
- There will be two lunch breaks where we serve simple food each day. If your child wants more, it is recommended to bring a packed lunch.
- Dress the children according to the weather.
- Please eat breakfast at home before you arrive.
- Registration is mandatory and it is not possible to show up. Vitenparken without being registered in advance.
