Outdoor app trail

An engaging and different teaching session awaits you; an app trail in your local area!

Prerequisites:

Divide the students into groups of 3-4 students.

Share link to the documentary “The Dark Side of Chocolate” with the class / https://www.slavefreechocolate.org/dark-side-of-chocolate

Implementation:

Send the groups with 10 minutes between each group's start time. Example: group 1 starts at post 1. 10 minutes later group 2 starts at post 1. etc.

Students who have not started the trail yet, or have finished, watch “The Dark Side of Chocolate” individually on their mobile phones. This way, for example, students in group 3 can watch 20 minutes of the documentary before starting the app trail, and then continue where they left off when they have completed the last item in the app trail.

Slink works the Xplore app:

NB! Please notify skole@vitenparken.no well in advance before you are going to carry out the teaching program, as we need some time to make a digital arrangement for each school. You will now carry out a teaching trail with 6 stations. The trail is both indoors and outdoors. The students use a separate app to carry out the trail. The app is called Xplore and was developed by Vitenparken . Download it via the App Store. If you want to see an example of what the trail looks like, you can do the following: Download the Xplore app on your mobile phone. Tap the menu in the top right (three dots). Tap Choose location. Select your school. You as a teacher must send us coordinates for 6 locations where you want to have the posts on the trail. When choosing a location for the posts, it is important to think about these things for each post: 1st post: Should be indoors. 2nd post: Should be indoors (associated file that is printed out and placed on the post). 3rd post: Should be outdoors with space for the students to move around. This post should be teacher-led. 4th post: Should be outdoors and a place with nature (soil, plants, trees, water, rocks or similar). This post includes a file that you should print out and give to the students before they walk the trail. 5th post: Should be outdoors in an open space the size of a handball court. You should place a ruler on this post. 6th post: Could be anywhere.

When students are going to walk the trail, they must also download Xplore. Press menu. Press Select location and select their school. Then they start at post 1 and work their way through the under-the-hood trail post by post.
