Cocoa crisis! – interactive digital learning adventure

Let your students learn about how climate change affects society and global politics by experiencing the topic through the interactive story of young politician Sara (18). She fights both to save the operation of her family farm and for international solidarity in the face of extreme weather, climate refugees and food shortages. When a hurricane in Venezuela causes an acute shortage of cocoa beans in the world, Sara and her best friend Sebastian demonstrate for the world's politicians to think about nature and the environment when negotiating crisis measures.

The educational offering Cocoa Crisis! is built on the core elements and competency objectives of the curriculum for Vg1 Natural Resources. Students follow Sara and her best friend Sebastian through an interactive digital comic book where they experience some of the complexity of living in a world where climate change, social and political conditions affect us as humans directly and indirectly.

Kakaokrise! with the graphic novel Fremtidsfrø promotes learning by exploring the consequences of climate change from many different starting points; digital video games, philosophical questions, in-depth exercises and an accompanying app with exercises physically placed in the students' immediate environment. The educational offer also gives students the opportunity to reflect on and express opinions related to these topics.

Kakaokrise is currently available in Bokmål, Nynorsk, Ukrainian and Russian!

The learning resource is free and open for use until 2026.
