Finally, it is your class' turn to implement Future Seeds; an engaging, interactive and interdisciplinary teaching offering rooted in the core elements and competence objectives of the curriculum. Future Seeds aims to give students an insight into some of the complexity of living in a world where climate change, social and political conditions affect us as humans directly and indirectly. Future Seeds gives students the opportunity to reflect on and express attitudes and opinions related to these topics. The teaching offering promotes learning by offering an interactive, engaging and different teaching path.

In Fremtidsfrø we follow Sara, a politically engaged girl who lives with her father Jonas on Fagervang farm where they mainly grow barley. The story begins with a young Sara holding an appeal at her school where she gives examples of how climate change is affecting the world. Not least, she appeals to the youth's involvement in the chocolate crisis #ChocLost; store shelves are empty of chocolate due to destroyed cocoa bean crops around the world. Crisis!

Readers are taken into a world where Sara and her friend Sebastian investigate how climate change affects nature, exemplified through Fagervang's barley crop. Through an engaging story where we meet Sara at several points in her life, students learn and play through digital games, an app trail with exciting tasks in their local environment, philosophical questions, and in-depth assignments.

The Teacher's Guide for Future Seeds is divided into four parts:

In the first part of Fremtidsfrø, a preparatory task is carried out. The purpose of the task is to initiate thought processes around some of the themes that appear in Fremtidsfrø. The same task is carried out again as a follow-up task. This gives the teacher an insight into how familiar the students are with the themes before and after working with Fremtidsfrø, and it is a good method for illustrating and reflecting on learning with the students.

In the second part of Fremtidsfrø, students read through a digital short story with great graphics, games and video clips. The entire short story is voiced by talented actors in Norwegian, Ukrainian and Russian; so that all students can understand all the text. This part is completed individually on a PC/Mac in the classroom or at home, depending on what is suitable for your class and their situation.

In the third part, the students are allowed to move out of the classroom and complete tasks in their local environment via Vitenparken's own Xplore app. You as the teacher choose where the posts will be placed, and we in Vitenparken prepare their very own trail. The trail is completed in parallel with the students watching a documentary about the chocolate industry.

In the fourth part of Fremtidsfrø, students write a subject text about an optional sub-topic.

In the fifth and final part, students re-do the exercise from the preparatory work. A good starting point for making students aware of their own learning, and reflecting on the themes they have encountered in Kakaokrise!
