Bat night
Thursday, August 23rd at 9:00 PM, we will hunt for bats!
What do you really know about bats? What do Batman and vampires have to do with flying mice? Imaginative filmmakers and cartoonists have contributed to countless myths about bats. What about the real little flying mouse we see on these dark August nights? How do bats actually live? Are they dangerous?
In connection with the International Bat Night, at the end of August, we will be visited by Mette Klann from the bat group at the Norwegian Zoological Society. She will tell us more about this interesting animal, for example that a bat can eat 3,000 mosquitoes in one night!
Afterwards, we will go out into the field with sound detectors to reveal what types of bats we see. Mette will explain to us in more detail how bats use echolocation when hunting insects.
Meet in Vitenparken at 9:00 PM with warm clothes and a flashlight (if you have one). We will spend about 30 minutes in the cafe first, then we will go out into the field.
