Hovinbyen Circular Oslo – Circular economy as a driving force for Norway's largest urban development project

When: Friday, March 4, 2022, Time: 08:15 – 09:00
Where: Digital meeting on Zoom, Zoom link
Download: calendar notice

Hovinbyen connects the inner city and Groruddalen. In the future, the area will be completely transformed. Central to the work is Hovinbyen Circular Oslo, which is one of three innovation districts, highlighted in the Campus Oslo strategy adopted by the city council in 2019. This is a public-private partnership that will drive new knowledge, new solutions and new jobs within the circular economy – especially within the construction, civil engineering and manufacturing industries. The partnership will become an engine for the transformation by creating a test and demonstration arena for sustainable urban and industrial development based on the circular economy.

On Friday, March 4, Hovinbyen Circular Oslo project manager Elin Schjenken Halvorsen will be at GreenSmart to talk about the work. We will gain insight into the ambitions and strategic platform, as well as ongoing projects and initiatives. At the same time, we will hear more about the upcoming feasibility study and gain a better understanding of the path forward for the innovation district initiative.

GreenSmart seminars are short gatherings that highlight important topics, challenges, and projects on campus and in the community. Our focus is on sustainable urban development, and the topics range from urban development and cultivation, to social inequality and entrepreneurship.
