Digitizing Myra's scientific history
The Friends of the Science Park and the Norwegian Institute for Bioeconomy have digitized Messages from the Norwegian Bog Society (period 1903 – 1976) and Journal of the Norwegian Bog and Bog Society (1977 – 1988). Many of the academic issues raised in the publications are relevant today, including discussions about bog farming and environmental impact.
Myra – an important part of Norwegian social development
Until now, this material has only been available in the form of 86 yearbooks or a very large number of quarterly issues. This has made the material not very accessible, with the attendant risk that it would not be utilized. Through this collaborative project, where all the material has been digitized, facts about important periods and developments in Norwegian agriculture and thus Norwegian social development have been made easily accessible for general dissemination of knowledge and as a basis for future research, both within the social sciences and natural sciences. A number of the academic issues raised in the publications are relevant today, including discussions about peat cultivation and environmental impact.
Collaboration between NIBIO and the Friends of Science Park
The project constitutes the first stage of a collaborative project between NIBIO and the Friends of the Science Park on a history of science project. The main purpose of the collaborative project is to document the societal role of the scientific activities at the institute – and its predecessors – and thereby strengthen the understanding of the industrial and societal significance of the history of science.
Digitization of over 15,000 pages

The journal from the Norwegian Bog and Bog Society, which replaced the announcements after the merger of the Bog Society and Ny Jord, for the period 1977 – 1988 contains over 400 articles and amount to over 2,450 pages. These are made available digitally through scanning in up to 5 formats and searchable in free text.

Open evening seminar at Vitenparken
The end of the digitization project was marked with an open evening seminar at Vitenparken Campus Ås, Thursday, April 12, 2018. Over 70 people participated in the seminar “Norwegian bog research in the past and future – From reducing emigration to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” The chefs at Vitenparken was inspired by the bog's raw materials and served, among other things, sprout salad, "bark chips", elk meat cakes with cranberries and cloudberry cake. It was a knowledgeable and tasty evening. At the event, the digitizations of Meddelelser fra Det norske Myrselskap and Tidsskrift for Det norske Jord- og myrselskap were presented, and lines were also drawn forward to today's issues related to bog research.

The project and seminar have, in addition to NIBIO's own efforts, been financed by the Foundation for Soil and Marsh Research with a total of NOK 260,000.
