NMBU helps shape the future of food production through both basic and applied research. This teaching program is based on our familiar domestic animals, the cow and/or horse.
Students who participate receive an introduction to work and relevant research within the field and gain increased knowledge of the cow's digestive system, as well as the transport and metabolism of nutrients.
Students will examine samples from the rumen of cows and study the ruminant's microorganisms under a microscope. Research on livestock farming and different types of feed is linked to global environmental issues and analyzed in relation to climate challenges and possible climate measures.
All upper secondary classes that book tuition through us are also offered an orientation about the various study options available at NMBU by skilled ambassador students who also answer questions about general student life at NMBU.
Competency goals
The program has been developed by educators based on the Faculty Renewal.
