Small cultivation projects are usually a manageable expense even in a tight school budget, but when you are going to start a school garden of some size, you have to make some investments in equipment. Once that is done, further operation does not cost that much. It is possible to apply for money from FAU, the municipality and various foundations, such as the Sparebankstiftelsen. If you want to run school-wide projects in the school garden, it is a good idea to have at least two teachers set aside time, for example one hour a week, to run the project.
