Healthy plants with crop rotation

Some years are bean years where all the beans turn out great, another year it's the beets that are the star of the garden. There's always a variation in what works, so it's good to grow more than one type.

Otherwise, a good start in life and a good upbringing with the right amounts of water and nutrition provide good protection against diseases and pests for most of the vegetables we grow. It is also a good idea to think about crop rotation. This means that you do not grow the same thing on the same piece of land year after year. Then the soil gets tired and you will have problems with diseases. Keep a special eye on plants in the cabbage family and move them to new places every year. It is also a good idea to move around potatoes, carrots, beets and plants in the pumpkin family (cucumber, squash and pumpkin).

The cabbage family is very attractive to pests and many cabbage crops need to be covered with fiber cloth. Kale generally does well without it. The same goes for kohlrabi, radishes and arugula.
