Marigold ointment

Recipe and method

For about 30 glasses you will need:
-1 liter of organic olive oil
-3 slabs of beeswax. Can be ordered from Honningsentralen in 1 kg packages.
-dark 30 ml glass with lid. For example from Sunvita in bulk

Hotplate, pot of water for a double boiler
Metal liter measure
Large glass, 1 – 2 liters, with lid

Start harvesting marigolds when they bloom. Preferably as soon as school starts. Pick the petals and let them dry for a day to avoid mold. Place the petals on the large jar and pour oil over them until they are covered. Put the lid on and place the jar on the windowsill. Do not shake! Ideally, it should stand for 6 weeks, but it will work fine with a little less time. Fill the liter measure with 6 dl of oil. Boil water in the pot and heat the oil in the water bath. Weigh out the beeswax. It should be 29 grams per dl. Let the children tear the wax into pieces and add it while an adult watches and stirs with a fork. When all the wax is in, the mixture must cool slightly, but not more than enough to be able to pour it into small
jars. Cool and screw on lids. Make labels.
